Chapter Fifth: Time Limits
Article 415
If the law stipulates a time limit for filing a lawsuit or lodging an appeal or taking a certain action, this time limit shall commence from the date of the act, fact, decision, or notification that is considered by the law as triggering it.
Article 416
If the law stipulates that a time limit must expire before taking a measure, it is not permissible for the measure to be taken before the expiration of the last day of this time limit.
Article 417
The periods of judicial proceedings are determined by days, months, years, or also by hours. A period determined by days is calculated from midnight beginning the period to midnight of the day fixed for its expiration. A period determined by months is calculated according to the calendar month.
Article 418
1. The day of notification or the occurrence of the event deemed by law to set it in motion shall not be included in the calculation of the time limit specified in days, months, or years. 2. Similarly, the hour in which the time limit commences shall not be included in the calculation of the time limit specified in hours. 3. The time limit shall expire at the end of the last day or the last hour thereof.
Article 419
If the end of the deadline coincides with an official holiday that extends to the first working day following it.
Article 420
If the person to whom the proceedings are directed resides outside Lebanon, the original period shall be increased by: 1- Thirty days if he resides in one of the Arab countries or in Turkey or Cyprus. 2- Sixty days if he resides in other countries. It is permissible for the court to reduce these periods.
Article 421
1. The chosen domicile designated in an explicit agreement or resulting from the power of attorney granted to a lawyer shall be considered as the real domicile with regard to distance deadlines. 2. The court registry shall also be considered as such a domicile when notification is made thereto in accordance with the provisions of Articles 402 and 405.
Article 422
All time limits specified in this law for the exercise of a right shall lapse if exceeded, resulting in the forfeiture of this right.
Article 423
No judicial or enforcement proceedings shall be valid or shall be deemed valid if carried out: 1- On official holidays. 2- Before seven o'clock in the morning and after eight o'clock in the evening unless accepted by the person to whom the proceedings are directed or the proceedings are a continuation of previous proceedings.
Article 424
The provisions of the preceding article shall be exempted in the following cases: 1- The procedures of urgent cases. 2- The procedures that the court orders to be carried out in view of circumstances that justify the urgency. Chapter Seven: Judicial Assistance
