Chapter Fourth: Payment of Compensation
Article 673
Art. 673 - The price is only exigible after the completion of the work or labor. When the payment of the price is calculated by fraction of time or work, the payment is exigible as soon as each unit of time or part of the work is completed.
Article 674
Art. 674 - When the work had to be interrupted for a reason independent of the will of the parties, the contractor is only entitled to be paid in proportion to the work he has completed, unless the provisions of Article 671 regarding the case of loss of the materials supplied by him are applicable.
Article 675
Article 675 - Unless otherwise stipulated, he who has undertaken work at a fixed price, according to a plan or estimate made or accepted by him, cannot demand any increase in price by reason of exceeding the amount of expenses provided for in the plan or estimate, unless the master has expressly authorized this exceeding.
Article 676
Art. 676 - Payment is due at the place where the work is to be delivered.
Article 677
Art. 677 - The contractor has the right to retain the work and other things that have been handed over to him by the client for the execution of the work until payment of the price or wage, and, if applicable, his advances, unless, according to the contract, payment is to be made at a later date. In this case, the contractor is liable for the thing he retains according to the rules concerning the pledgee creditor.
Article 678
Article 678 - All those who have been employed in the execution of the work have a direct action against the master up to the amount of what he is found to owe to the contractor at the moment when their action is brought.
