Title Ninth: Conditional Obligations
Article 79
Article 79 - Of two obligations, one shall be considered the principal one when it is the foundation of the other, and particularly: 1 - When one obligation is the legal consequence of the other, for example, an obligation to pay damages for repairing the harm caused by the non-performance of a prior obligation; 2 - When one obligation is contracted in consideration of the other (clause, penal, suretyship, pledge).
Article 80
Article 80 - Unless provided by law or contrary agreement of the parties, obligations ancillary to those referred to in paragraph 2 of the preceding article cease with the principal obligation to which they are correlated.
